February 2024 Meeting Tuesday 27th
Welcome to the next season of beekeeping in the Flathead! We have a special guest joining us this month: Christine Lambert from USDA Wildlife Services will be there to visit with us about Bear fencing for bees. September Potluck at Apiary Meeting
Our last meeting of 2023 will be at John’s apiary on Sunday, September 24th at 12 pm!
Location: 2190 Steel Bridge Rd, Kalispell, MT 59901-7823
Bring: A potluck dish, your veil, and (optionally) your honey to share taste testing
Day: Sunday, September 24th at 12 pm
There will be no more Tuesday meetings this 2023 year (including Sept 26th) at the Health Department. Hope you had a great Bee Season!
August 29th Monthly Meeting at Health Department
Don’t forget about our in person meeting at the Health Department on 1st Ave at 6:30 on Tuesday, August 29th! Please reach out to Angela ASAP (406-871-6551) if you can host a September apiary visit and potluck for us to do a winterizing demonstration instead of the downtown meeting.
Beginning Beekeeping Course at FVCC for September
FVCC has published their fall courses! Angela Tollerson will be teaching one class (two sessions) for beginning beekeeping on September 9 and 16th from 10:30 – 3 pm both Saturdays. You can register here
July Meeting 7/25 at 6:30 pm
Our July meeting will be at the Health Department on 1st Ave as usual on Tuesday at 6:30 pm. Please let Angela know ASAP if you are willing to host a honey extraction and BBQ lunch at your apiary for the August meeting. 406-871-6551
June 6/27 Meeting at the Health Department
Our June monthly meeting will be at the Flathead County Health Department (2nd floor) at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, the 27th.
We will be taking volunteers for a July and August hosting for potluck lunch and apiary tour INSTEAD of meetings in the health department. Advanced Beekeeping Course
This course is being offered by Angela Tollerson at FVCC on May 20th and June 3rd (2 session class). You must have taken any Beginning Beekeeping course in the past or have at least 1 year experience keeping bees. A beginner course will be offered in September. See the link to sign up!
April 25th Meeting Reminder
Don’t forget about our monthly meeting Tuesday night at 6:30pm at the Flathead County Health Department (second floor)! We’ll be covering the May To Dos and reminding everyone how to install your new bees or queens and care for them as they start up. See you there!
Special Queen Breeder Guest for March 28th Meeting
We will have a special guest, Cory Stevens, speaking remotely to our club for the Tuesday, March 28th 6:30 pm meeting. Cory raises Varroa Sensitive Hygiene (VSH) queens that Angela has been using in her apiary for 4 years now without 100% die offs in our winters. We’ll be connecting in person from the Flathead County Health Department over Zoom with Cory. See you next Tuesday!
